Always Feeling Tired? You’re not alone …
Through my Coaching, I meet and work with many busy people, juggling lots of things at once. This is life, or so it seems. And then we become super tired, too tired to function, feel overwhelmed, tired and reach the point of burnout becoming a real risk.
So how tired is too tired? How do we know when to stop and rest?
😞 Burnout is the state of physical and emotional exhaustion. It comes from long-term stress, with little rest, over a prolonged time frame. Humans are ok with some stress, it can keep us on on our toes in short, sharp quantities but humans are not designed for long term/ chronic stress situations.
Common signs of burnout:
Feeling tired or drained most of the time
Feeling helpless, trapped and/or defeated
Feeling detached/alone in the world
Having a cynical/negative outlook
Self-doubt
Procrastinating and taking longer to get things done
Feeling overwhelmed
It is reported that most adults report experiencing these symptoms at one time or another, in life. And, like most things, time needs to be invested in understanding our situation, our response and what might need to be different for us to feel better.
🧐 Often it isn’t enough to simply focus on one area. A resilient, healthy lifestyle takes into account: work, leisure, home, social, financial and wellbeing factors.
However, the good news is that we don’t need to tackle everything at once. We can start with the area that feels most urgent, where we recognise that stress is a factor …. and then we zoom out, taking a bigger picture view and identifying the small changes that will have big impact over time.
